Although there are various technological developments all over the world, starch is still a major building block in modern society, and the use of starch continues to expand in economically developed regions. Cassava as an important starch production raw material, it is widely cultivated in tropical zone. The isolation of starch from cassava technology is gradually mature due to the high demand for starch.

Here are the core steps for isolation of starch from cassava
1. Cleaning and washing: Cassava is need to be cleaned to remove the stone, sand, weeds and epidermis from the surface of the cassava. This step utilizing the spiral rotating and rubbing between cassava to achieve the purpose of cleaning, and no water is added for isolation of starch from cassava process. Then cassava enters into washing unit. With water as medium, continuous grinding and rinsing is carried out to remove the sediment and part of the epidermis adhering to the surface of cassava.
2. Grating: Grating plays the decisive role in starch yield and starch quality in the process of isolation of starch from cassava. Excellent cassava grating machine allows isolate starch from cassava as much as possible so that more starch can be obtained. Unlike tradional grating method, crushing by high efficient machine can not only improve the production efficiency but also improve the starch quality and yield.
3. Screening: To separate and purify starch by screening for isolation of starch from cassava process. At present, multiple screening or counterflow washing method is generally adopted to remove fine slag from starch slurry. It is required that, through screening and washing of the original pulp, the starch content of cassava residue is less than 35%, the free starch content is less than 5%, and the content of fiber impurities in the pulp is lower than 0.05%.

4. Desanding: To remove sand out of starch pulp through cyclone desander to purify cassava starch and reduce burden of the subsequent equipment for isolation of starch from cassava process.
5. Concentration and refining: Another important step for isolation of starch from cassava whose main function is to concentration, refining and washing of starch pulp. With the mature of technology, full hydrocyclone technology is widely used for separating soluble and insoluble impurities in starch pulp. It only takes a few minutes to complete the whole process, which not only effectively avoid microbial infection, but also get more stable product quality and higher product recycling rate.
6. Dehydrating: Cassava starch producer tend to use peeler centrifuge to dehydrate cassava starch for isolation of starch from cassava process. The required water content after dehydrating is below 40%.

7. Drying: The starch is sent to flash dryer with screw conveyor for drying steps. Negative pressure method is adopted for the whole system, thus ensuring the quality and moisture uniformity of starch. The required moisture content after drying is about 14%. For isolation of starch from cassava process, the specification of drying pipe, fan, close fan and radiator piece can be chosen according to output.
8. Sifting and packing: In order to make sure the uniformity of starch granule, starch need to enter the vibration sieve for sifting after air cooling. The sifted starch need to be packed by and weighted for storage. It is required to keep the warehouse ventilated and take fire precautions.
