1. Cassava selecting and transportation process

Fresh cassava is the main materials of cassava production which has an vital influence on the quality of cassava starch. Therefore the cassava need to be carefully selected to ensure the final products quality. The selected fresh cassava should without mud, sand, root, beard, wood and other impurities. And then the selected cassava is weighted and then transported into storage yard by forklift.

2. Cassava cleaning process

This is the first step for cassava starch processing in cassava starch processing plant. The cassava is transported into dry sieve by belt conveyor for cleaning. The sand, soil, weed, stone and other impurities are removed in this process.

3. Cassava washing process

The cleaned cassava is then transported into paddle washing machine for further removing sand, soil, dirt and other attached debris. By adopting countercurrent washing principle, this washing machine can effectively remove the impurities.

4. Cassava crushing process

Then it comes to the most important procedure in cassava starch processing plant. The role of crushing is to destroy the structure of cassava, so that starch particles can be disassembled and separated from the root. The crushing rate plays a decisive role in the starch yield. The higher of the crushing rate, the higher of starch yield.

5. Cassava starch screening process

The original starch slurry after being crushing need to be screened to separate the starch milk from the fiber in cassava starch processing plant. At the same time, the fiber needs to recovery of starch by detergent. The purpose of separating is achieved by centrifuge sieve and fine fiber sieve. At present, it is generally adopts multi-stage screening or counterflow washing method.

6. Sand removal process

The coarse starch slurry comes out of fine fiber sieve still contains sand, which must be removed by a desander in cassava starch processing plant. The desander adopts specific gravity separation method for sand removal. The heavy substances sink to the bottom under the action of centrifugal force, while lighter substances (starch slurry) are concentrated in the center of the sand remover and are discharged from the upper part.

7. Starch enrichment and refining process

In cassava starch processing plant, the starch enrichment and refining process is to separate insoluble protein, residual soluble protein and other impurities from starch slurry so as to achieve the purpose of washing, refining and enrichment of starch milk. Hydrocyclone station is used for this purpose.

8. Cassava starch dehydrating process

After the separation process, the refined starch milk still contains a lot of water, so it must be dehydrated to facilitate drying. In cassava starch processing plant, peeler centrifuge is often used for dehydrating. The moisture content of wet starch after dehydration is required to be about 38%.

9. Starch drying and packing process

Drying is carried out after the dehydrating process in cassava starch processing plant. Flash dryer is the widely used cassava starch drying machine which features with high heat exchange rate and short drying time. The water content of starch product is about 13.5% through drying. Then the collected starch is packed for warehousing.
